Career Coaching

I work with individuals and groups to help people discover what matters most, articulate their skills, and build plans for growth.

Discover and articulate your skills.

“What are you good at?” We are faced with this questions throughout our careers — especially in the transition stages after college, between jobs, or in preparation for retirement. I work with established tools and methods, including Melissa Peet’s Generative Knowledge Interviewing process to help you discover and and articulate your unique skills and capacities.

Find what matters to you.

“What do you want to do?” Our responses to this question can change over time, but research in human development points to the key roles of meaning and purpose in forging satifying careers. Leveraging my extensive experience with Lara Galinsky’s Work on Purpose curriculum, I can work with you to discover career steps that connect with your core interests and values.

Build a plan for growth.

I can work with you through the nuts-and-bolts processes that underly career growth. These include working with you to:

  • Identify and reach out to networks and individuals

  • Write, revise and submit applications for jobs or graduate programs

  • Craft resumées, personal statements, and supporting materials

  • Create language for online resources like LinkedIn profiles

Throughout these processes, I integrate my work and training in Ela Ben-Ur’s Innovator’s Compass with my experience as a professional writer.

Testimonials

Jessica was phenomenal in helping me consider the nuances of interview preparation and, later on in the process, benefits package negotiation. She provided clear, constructive advice that empowered me throughout the process and assisted me in putting my best foot forward
— Brian Frenette, Yale School of Management

Jess played a critical role in guiding my approach to the post-grad job search. During the application process, she helped me to identify my values and skills — both personal and professional. Then she helped me prepare for interviews by working with me to articulate how these values and skills aligned with the positions I was applying for. (And I got the job!)
— Shayla Bezjak-Martinez, College Admissions
Since leaving Smith a year ago, not a single day has gone by that I don’t reap the benefits of taking your classes, and not a week goes by that I don’t mention to someone how transformative these classes were for me.
— Nikki Schuldt, Procaccini Law Group
